Did Mae really lose her memories in The Acolyte finale? Trouble always seems to come in between the force-sensitive twins and the ending makes it all the more heartbreaking for fans to watch. Find out what happened here.

SPOILER WARNING: This article contains spoilers for The Acolyte finale, so proceed with caution.

Mae Loses Her Memories At the End of The Acolyte

Mae and Osha finally reunited together and came to a mutual understanding of the whole truth about their past.

The Jedi Master Sol that Osha always looked up to turned out to be the culprit behind their separation and the death of their Mother Aniseya, along with the rest of the coven's witches.

Mae wasn't after becoming Qimir aka The Stranger's Acolyte or joining the Dark Side, after all. She merely wanted her twin sister to find out what Sol did to their family.

Unfortunately, their reunion had to be cut short the minute Jedi Master Vernestra sensed her former apprentice, Qimir's presence on planet Brendok. They had to get a move on before it's too late.

In this case, Osha would only accept becoming Qimir's apprentice if he let Mae go. The Sith doesn't hesitate to agree, considering that Osha's kyber crystal bleeding convinced him she was the twin he was looking for.

Upon sensing that Bazil and the rest of the Jedi were coming close, Mae sacrificed her memories to the Sith, so that she wouldn't lead the Jedi right on their trail.

Once captured, Mae's wiped memories further supported Jedi Master Vernestra's betrayal of Sol.

While Osha could never become the Jedi she thought she would be, Qimir's offer to switch to the Dark Side felt right in the finale.

Not only does this confirm their connection with the rise of the Siths in the shadows, but the finale also keeps the canon story intact.

The Jedi had not been aware of the looming existence of Darth Plagueis and that Jedi Master Vernestra was responsible for keeping Qimir's identity and motive a secret.

It remains to be seen if we'll be watching Mae and Osha reunite in a potential The Acolyte season 2, but renewing the series could explore more about the early "power of two" twins' powers and how the Sith came to be.
