The Tynnan tracker Bazil surprisingly switches sides at the last minute in The Acolyte finale, leaving fans wondering what his motive may have been on the show.

Bazil Surprisingly Sabotages Sol's Pursuit of Mae
Despite Sol seemingly trying to get his point across to Mae on why he had to bring her and her twin sister Osha to the council, the former decides to make her timely escape by stealing one of the ships on board.
On Sol's attempt to get Mae back on the main ride, he ends up tempted to shoot down her ship. This is when Bazil is shown agitated in the background.
He opens up the engine's system to hack into Sol's drive and then sabotages the ship's missiles. Even the Jedi Master is dumbfounded in his seat. So, what gives?
Generally speaking, it was uncharacteristic to see Bazil switch sides when all The Acolyte has been showing is that he is a part of the Jedi team.
When he knew it wasn't Osha who boarded with Sol, he kept her away from stealing or manipulating anything from their place. Here's what fans think is up with Bazil.
The Acolyte fans have been racking their brains in hopes they come up with the answer behind Bazil's motives. Others surmised that Bazil may not be aware Sol is chasing down Mae, not Osha, and wanted to save her.
However, some theories make more sense than others.
In this case, Bazil may be simply looking out for the safety of the people on the ship that Sol was driving and the fact that speeding through space could damage their engines, as well.
Overall, it's not a good look for the Jedi to kill someone over a mission, which explains why Sol had been the villain on the show all along.
If anything, this left Vernestra more leverage to use Sol's death as a scapegoat and hide Qimir's tracks from being discovered in the council.
