The recently-aired first season finale of The Acolyte finally introduced its Sith Master after weeks of speculations from fans regarding its identity.

While Qimir was revealed to be the mysterious Sith Lord who is lurking behind the shadows in the first half of the season, fans have suspected that there might be a bigger mastermind who is pulling the strings.

The most popular fan theory at the moment is Mother Koril might be the real Sith Lord after episode 7 showed that she might have escaped the tragic event in Brendok that saw the entire coven being killed.

Spoiler Warning: This article includes spoilers for The Acolyte season 1 finale, so proceed with caution.

Darth Plagueis Appears in The Acolyte Season 1 Finale

Darth Plagueis made his live-action debut in the first season finale of The Acolyte, revealing him as the true Sith Master.

The moment happened earlier in the episode when Qimir and Osha were leaving the ocean planet to find Sol and Mae.

As they were taking off, we saw a mysterious figure observing them from afar. It was revealed to be Darth Plagueis, the Sith Master who will eventually train Palpatine.

While the character had a brief appearance, it is a great reveal for fans who have been speculating that Plagueis might show up at some point in the series and it sets up his bigger involvement in the second season.

It is unclear yet whether this indicates that Plagueis is Qimir's Sith Master or he was just looking for apprentices, but this could also be a sign that the theories about Koril might not be true after all as the episode did not make any reference to her at all.

In a recent interview, showrunner Leslye Headland teased that she was planning to include Plagueis in the series and show how he trained Palpatine.

"Yes, I do. If I continue to get to tell this story, I know how I would like that to play out. And I would say I think it’s pretty complicated and messy," she said.

It is exciting to see how it all plays out in the potential second season now that we know that Plagueis is going to be part of the picture and whether they will explore his connection to Qimir.

All episodes of The Acolyte season 1 are streaming on Disney+.
