The Acolyte’s Season Finale concluded the series in many ways that give opportunities for new stories to unfold in its second season. However, showrunner Leslye Headland hasn’t confirmed the renewal of the series for a second season. Many things point to the show’s continuation, however, from interviews to how the first season ended with Darth Plagueis and Yoda’s appearance. Let’s take a quick look at the signs that point to The Acolyte’s Season 2.

The Acolyte’s Season 2 was Already Mentioned Prior to Series Premiere

Star Wars producer Rayne Roberts mentioned the second season during an interview with SFX Magazine earlier this year. She said in that interview that the writers for season 2 have already started writing the story but haven’t figured out how to wrap the whole season yet. Now that we’ve seen how Season 1 ended, The Acolyte’s writers can now be sure how the narrative will go and we could possibly see the birth of the Knights of Ren.

Showrunner Leslye Headland Says Story of Darth Plagueis and Palpatine is Complicated and Messy

In a recent interview with The Nerdist, The Acolyte showrunner and producer Lesly Headland mentioned that she already knows how to tell the story of Darth Plagueis and his training with Palpatine. We’ve seen the fabled Munn Sith Lord prowling in the darkness in Episode 8, which indicates the connection that he has with Qimir. Whether it is confirmed that they are working together or Plagueis is merely observing in the shadows, Headland already knows how to showcase that in Season 2.

Yoda is Now Aware of What's Happening, Vernestra is on the Hunt for Qimir, and The Jedi Council is Now Under the Scrutiny of the Senate

In Episode 8, Vernestra seeks Mae’s help to pinpoint where Qimir is and covers up what happened in Brendok during the Senate’s audience with the Order. The Jedi Master then proceeds to report the events to Yoda, who is already alive and well during the tail end of the High Republic era. Season 1 opens up several fantastic story-telling angles with these, including the beginning of Osha’s training with Qimir. Palpatine was Plagueis’ apprentice and the second season has the perfect opportunity to elaborate more on this master-apprentice relationship, as well as Qimir’s ultimate role in The Acolyte.
