Star Wars: The Acolyte Season 1 just recently came to an end, keeping fans wondering and wanting more. Unlike the original story, Season 1 has already killed a large number of Jedi and changed the story for the main characters, and we are yet to see what Season 2 brings if there's one!
The Showrunner likely has to get a green light about the second season from LucasFilm; if we look back, even The Mandalorian didn't have a renewal plan until a few months after it was released, so a delay in announcement is very much expected.
Will There Be a Second Season of The Acolyte?
Leslye Headland recently spoke to Entertainment Weekly, where she was asked if she'd heard anything about season 2; she replied with "nothing" and proceeded to make a zero sign with her hands.
While she said it's not a bad thing, she says, "You have to take a break, Especially after something like this. I don't even know how many years my brain has been going, Star Wars, Star Wars, Star Wars, Acolyte, Acolyte, Acolyte — just constantly solving problems, constantly thinking about it."
Headland added: "It is very weird to now be in a place where I don't need to do that. I always say to budding writers, ‘The most important thing that you can do is sit around and do nothing. Because the second you start to manufacture a story, you're going to get stressed out, and the story can't start that way.’"
What Could Fans Expect to See in a Potential The Acolyte Season 2?
Further, in the interview, Headland mentioned that she had already started thinking about it; she stated, "My brain is still doing it; it's almost like if you're running, you can't just stop, can't shut off."
As per her talk with EW, she did tease that in the second season, fans will likely get to see more of the Republic Senate, which was also in the finale of season one. Also, she did mention a character from the High Republic novels, i.e., Jedi Knight Vernestra Rwoh, whose role is played by Headland's wife, Rebecca Henderson. She expresses her regret of not being able to tell Jedi Knight Vernestra Rwoh's story as she had planned.
In an interview with "The Inverse", Headland stated, “I love the idea that Vernestra now has on her hands a Force-sensitive, powerful woman that is, at this point, docile enough that Vernestra would be able to educate and form an allegiance with. So that was very exciting for me to set up. Osha and the Stranger is probably the juiciest relationship that I would love to dive into. There's so much about them that I would love to explore more and not just the hand-holding,”
