Leslye Headland Had to Fight for Yoda Cameo in The Acolyte Season 1 Finale
In a recent interview, Culpepper addressed Yoda's surprise cameo in The Acolyte season 1 finale revealing that showrunner Leslye Headland had to fight to include him in the episode.
"She really had to fight for it, actually, but it was all a part of her plan. I give her so much credit for getting it," she revealed.
The director explained that Lucasfilm was being protective of the character which is why they were initially hesitant to allow Headland to use Yoda.
She added, "[Lucasfilm] is just very, very protective of the brand and what happens to the characters. There’s other storylines being developed by Lucasfilm as well, so it all has to fit together. It has to make sense."
Now, Yoda's cameo has become one of the highlights of the first season finale for many fans as it hypes up their excitement for the potential second season.
Before the show's premiere, Headland disputed the possibility of Yoda's appearance in the series. However, in hindsight today, she was just trying to keep it a secret which is why she had to deny his potential cameo.
It is curious to see what kind of storyline they have in store for Yoda in the second season and how his partnership with Vernestra will develop now that they're covering up a big secret.
