While Osha and The Stranger have seemingly found their fitting ending, Star Wars fans have their fingers crossed that The Acolyte is getting a renewal for a second season. Hence, why #RenewTheAcolyte is still trending on the X platform.
Star Wars Fans Seeking The Acolyte Season 2 Despite Initial Backlash
Star Wars fans weren't exactly delighted about The Acolyte's premiere — at first. If anything, they refused to believe that anything on Disney could top off the original trilogy. However, something hit them with the latest prequel series.
The Acolyte stood out because, across eight episodes, the series shows a different side of the corrupted Jedi working as the main characters.
In this case, they would be Sol, Indara, Torbin, and Vernestra. All of them were proven to have acted based on selfish desires instead of what they preached to their students and padawans.
By the end of The Acolyte, the twins, Mae and Osha, find out the true story behind what Sol and the other Jedi Masters did on their home planet, as well as the emerging origins of the Sith's "power of two."
Fans have since then taken their campaign on X (formerly Twitter) by trending #RenewTheAcolyte in hopes of reaching the showrunners and Disney+'s interest for a second season:
The majority of fans are psyched to see more of Mae and Osha's dynamic, but more specifically, about her chemistry with Qimir aka The Stranger, given how they were initially supposed to kiss at one point in the first season.
But the show creator Leslye Headland has different plans in mind.
What The Acolyte Show Creator Has Already Revealed About S2
The Acolyte took the show creator Leslye Headland four years before it even came to fruition.
Taking that into consideration, she recently addressed that she has heard "nothing" about a potential The Acolyte season 2 renewal, adding that they would need to "take a break, especially after something like this."
However, should there be a second season in the near future, Headland is leaning on telling Vernestra's backstory more than any of the other characters, especially since she took Sol's pedestal by the end of it all.
In the meantime, stay tuned for more updates on this story.
