Fan-favorite character Towelie is making his return in the upcoming South Park episode that will take aim at President Donald Trump's Washington D.C. takeover.
Since the Season 27 premiere last month, the hit series has been making media headlines due to its consistent jabs against the Trump administration, which have prompted responses from public figures that were parodied. Fans have been wondering whether the series will continue to poke fun at the US President throughout the current season.
Is Towelie Returning in South Park Season 27?
Comedy Central has released the trailer for the upcoming South Park season 27 episode titled "Sickofancy," which confirms the return of Towelie.
The fan-favorite character can be seen riding a bus along the roads of Washington, D.C. However, the city has been taken over by hundreds of soldiers, similar to the recent real-life events that happened in the U.S. capital.
As Towelie arrived on the White House Lawn, he exclaimed, "This seems like the perfect place for a towel!"
While the plot details regarding the episode are still under wraps, the trailer confirms that the series will continue to take aim at the Trump administration in the upcoming episode.
"Sickofancy," the third episode of the current 27th season, will air this Wednesday, August 19, at 10 p.m. ET on Comedy Central. It will stream on Paramount+ the next day.
What is the Trump Administration's Response to South Park's Jab?
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem has reacted to South Park's jab against her in the episode titled "Got a Nut" that aired two weeks ago.
"It's so lazy to just constantly make fun of women for how they look. It's only the liberals and the extremists who do that. They wanted to criticize my job; go ahead and do that, but clearly they can't. They just pick something petty like that," she said.
The White House, through a statement from Assistant Press Secretary Taylor Rogers, also expressed outrage when the series brutally mocked the US President in the season 27 premiere episode.
"The Left's hypocrisy truly has no end — for years they have come after South Park for what they labeled as 'offense' content, but suddenly they are praising the show. Just like the creators of South Park, the Left has no authentic or original content, which is why their popularity continues to hit record lows," Rogers said.
"This show hasn't been relevant for over 20 years and is hanging on by a thread with uninspired ideas in a desperate attempt for attention. President Trump has delivered on more promises in just six months than any other president in our country's history — and no fourth-rate show can derail President Trump's hot streak."
