Yuto Suzuki’s hit action and comedy manga, Sakamoto Days, is finally getting an anime adaptation, which means fan-favorite characters and their best fights will be coming to life. Along with it, Sakamoto Days has exciting story arcs that will have fans on the edge of their seats.
From the Amusement Park Arc to the Assassin Exhibition Arc, let’s take a closer look at every Sakamoto Days arc, highlighting their significance and why they stand out in this remarkable series.
JCC Infiltration Arc
"Hasta La Vista, Baby"—this may be Taro Sakamoto's best line throughout the Japan Clear Creation (JCC) Infiltration Arc, which runs from chapter 73, Killer Lotto Scratch, to chapter 104, Strange Feeling.
The JCC Infiltration Arc was action-packed, with thrilling fights ranging from the Osaragi vs. Geisha chase sequences to the Shishiba vs. Yotsumura fight, making it a standout in the series.
The JCC Infiltration Arc not only adds depth to the overarching narrative of Sakamoto Days but also catalyzes character development and thematic exploration.
It challenges our heroes to confront their pasts, face their fears, and ultimately reaffirm their values in the face of adversity.
Death Row Prisoners Arc
The Death Row Prisoners Arc would not be possible without X, otherwise known as Kei Uzuki.
He was up to no good again, as he freed some of the prisoners on death row to assassinate his targets, including Sakamoto and his friends, as well as some members of the Order.
The Death Row Prisoners Arc is filled with high-stakes action and intense battles, from Osaragi vs. Dump, Gaku vs. Takamura, Nagumo vs. Minimalist, and Taro Sakamoto vs. Uzuki himself.
The Death Row Prisoners Arc starts from chapter 32, Bathhouse Mode, to chapter 54, I Got This, with a total of 23 chapters.
Taro Sakamoto’s Past Arc
Before retiring, Sakamoto was a member of the Order, killing people with little concern for their lives, like a cold-hearted assassin.
So, when Taro Sakamoto's Past Arc began in chapter 105, Each One's Goal, we knew that many of our questions would be answered.
Following their JCC infiltration, Taro Sakamoto decided to tell Shin about his past, which was a surprising decision considering he’s not the type to open up easily to other people.
This is an important plot arc that dives deeply into the backstory of the series' protagonist, Taro Sakamoto.
It sheds light on Sakamoto's upbringing, his time as a notorious hitman, and the events that drove him to renounce his violent lifestyle in favor of a calm life as a family man and store owner.
JCC Transfer Exams Arc
The JCC Transfer Exams Arc follows Sakamoto and Shin as they take the exam to enter JCC, beginning with chapter 55, Break, and ending with chapter 72, So Long, for a total of 18 chapters.
This is an exciting and pivotal story arc that brings new challenges and character development to the forefront, particularly for Shin, who wanted to put his abilities to the test without relying on Taro Sakamoto.
Of course, Sakamoto agreed, but at some point, he had to intervene because of Shinaya, who was controlled remotely by Gaku.
A lot of exciting fights happen in this arc, as if Sakamoto and Shin were in an action movie, with airplanes crashing and so on.
It was also interesting to see Sakamoto using travel-related objects as weapons, as he used a passport and even luggage to smack Shinaya in the face.
Thankfully, Shin and Sakamoto both passed the test, despite everything that happened.
Assassin Exhibition of the Century Arc
The Assassin Exhibition of the Century Arc is still underway, so it may or may not move up our ranking after it is completed.
Regardless, this arc is so compelling that we can't help but look forward to the next chapters, especially after the JAA announced Sakamoto and Nagumo were S-targets for elimination.
Now they must confront Takamura's wrath, who we know may be the strongest character in Sakamoto Days.
There were several dramatic fights in this arc, including the Nagumo vs. Gaku fight, which startled the readers with its unexpected ending.
This arc begins with chapter 131, Deal, and is still ongoing as of writing.
Lab Arc
The Lab Arc starts off in a comedic way, as Lu was mistakenly kidnapped on behalf of Shin, despite their obvious differences in appearance and abilities. I mean, who would mistake Lu for Shin?
Before the kidnapping, Lu got into an argument with Shin, which pushed her to make some nasty remarks about Shin’s clairvoyant abilities. She would later regret saying this to Shin, as soon as he found out about his ties with the lab.
One of the arc's highlights is when Shin and Sakamoto ride a badass motorcycle together in an attempt to hunt down Lu's captors.
This arc also contains several fascinating moments, such as how Shin's words were reversed when he spoke because of one of the scientists.
This arc starts in chapter 16, Department Store War, where Sakamoto and Shin tried their best to get Hana her backpack, and ends with chapter 31, See?.
Bangkok Arc
The Bangkok Arc is a captivating and high-stakes storyline that takes the characters out of their familiar environment and plunges them into the vibrant and chaotic streets of Bangkok.
It takes Sakamoto, Shin, Heisuke, and Amane abroad to find X and stop Akira Akao. The Bangkok Arc starts in chapter 121, Bizarre Data, and ends in chapter 130, Reunion Part 2.
This is the arc where the series revealed that Rion Akao was responsible for putting a huge bounty on Sakamoto’s head.
It features some of the most intense fights in the series, from Gaku vs. Kumanomi, Hyo and Heisuke vs. Kumanomi, and Akira vs. Uzuki.
Amusement Park Arc
Sakamoto Days will not be complete without the Amusement Park Arc. This is the very first arc of the series if we don’t count the Introduction Arc that introduces Sakamoto to the world.
The Amusement Park Arc takes the Sakamoto family to Sugar Park, where Sakamoto, Shin, and Lu try their best to protect Aoi and Hana from the assassins who want to ruin their day off.
This arc introduces assassins such as Tatsu, Boiled, and Obiguro as they come face-to-face with the main characters of the series.
Some fans love this story arc so much that they consider it the arc that convinced them to read Sakamoto Days to this day.
