This month, the highly-anticipated Zack Snyder film Rebel Moon is set to finally arrive on Netflix. Fans of the director have been excited to see his next original venture, especially since it's been his passion project for many years.

The trailers they showed for the past few months suggest that it will be a visual feast for the audience just like most Snyder movies in the past and there is a huge promise that it will be Netflix's next big franchise.

There is a lot of hope that the film will be able to live up to the hype. However, considering that Snyder's movies are notorious for receiving divisive reception, the reactions could go either way.

Now, the first batch of social media reactions to the latest Snyder joint has arrived.

Last night, the world premiere event for Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire was held where critics, journalists, and online pundits in attendance were able to watch the entire film in advance and share their reactions on social media right after.

So far, the responses have been mixed with praises for its visuals, homage to beloved fantasy and science-fiction films, and action sequences. Some of them expressed their excitement in the second part that will be released next year.

However, there were also criticisms made towards the screenplay, Snyder's direction, and the lack of character development. Some of them believed that the director's cut may enhance some of the issues in the current version.

This is not a great start for the film in terms of its critical reception since this is a sign that it may get more divisive in the coming days as more people see the movie.

It's not surprising that the film is seemingly getting these kinds of reactions since we've now been accustomed to seeing Snyder's movies get divisive responses and it looks like this won't be an exception at all.

Considering the branding of Snyder and the story's mass appeal, it is very likely that it will still end up becoming a major hit on Netflix and potentially take the number one spot in the Top 10 list for several days, especially as the holiday season is upon us where people have time to watch.

It's interesting to see what the overall reception will be once the film is available on Netflix and whether it will be good enough for them to make it a franchise with multiple spinoffs in various formats.

Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire is set to premiere on Netflix this December 22.
