Otto Hightower is a character of significant importance in HBO’s “House of The Dragon”. A hand to the king and the father of Alicent Hightower, even though he is very intelligent, he is not much liked by fans, especially those who are in favor of Blacks.

The Rise and Fall of Otto Hightower
As King Viserys Targaryen's right-hand man, Otto really shakes things up. But we don’t know what will happen to him in the series. Otto Hightower – Going Up, Then Down Otto's smart moves always get him ahead. As per Season 2, episode 2, initially, he was close to the king but was sacked for trying to favor his grandson, Aegon II. Viserys took him back, but later Aegon removed him after a heated argument about the ratcatchers.
Exile and Uncertainty
A Forced Break Otto is suddenly sent far from King’s Landing. His sudden leave of Highgarden or Oldtown might mean a break from the lead story. Yet, the show doesn’t follow the books word for word. Otto might be back before we know it.
A Brutal End in the Books
The book tells Otto chasing life again at Oldtown after being dismissed. A Sad Finish In The Book In George R. R. Martin's 'Fire & Blood,' Otto meets a sad end. After Rhaenyra Targaryen grabs King’s Landing, Otto is beheaded for treason by her decree.
Will Otto Return to ‘House of the Dragon’?
This makes us wonder about his return. Otto's Comeback in 'House of the Dragon’? The show isn’t shy to twist characters from the book. We don’t know what will happen to Otto on TV. He's shown travelling to Highgarden or Oldtown, but his return before Rhaenyra rules King’s Landing seems unlikely.
Fans would also talk about Otto and the episode where Otto was seen mentioning Daeron Targaryen, the youngest child of Alicent and Viserys. Although there was no glimpse of Daeron in House of the Dragon, he resides in OldTown. In such circumstances, if Otto leaves and reunites with Daeron, this could bring him into the show and eventually delay Otto's death.
According to the show, Rhaenyra taking over King’s landing could occur either in the Season 2 finale or during the start of Season 3. If the show follows the book, Otto might not have much time to die.
The only way to keep him alive in the show is when he is away from King landing long enough for Rhaenyra to take over the city, which would keep him alive for a few more episodes.
But, the creators might have a surprise plot for Otto. Wrap-up Otto’s outcome in 'House of the Dragon' keeps us guessing. He’s a sure goner in the book, but the TV show might go another way. Will he hold power or fall? We don't know yet. But this we know – Otto's impact on The House of The Dragon can't be erased.
