House of the Dragon Finale Teased Major Rhaenyra Betrayal in Season 2

House of the Dragon Episode 10 is finally (officially) here and the season finale gave viewers a lot of gasp-worthy moments as the series declared that the Dance of the Dragons has begun. One particular moment featured an unclaimed dragon being awakened and with that, the possibility that a major betrayal will be done against Rhaenyra Targaryen.

WARNING: POSSIBLE HOUSE OF THE DRAGON SEASON 2 SPOILERS AHEAD, PROCEED WITH CAUTION!

In House of the Dragon Episode 10, Rhaenys Velaryon finally arrives on Dragonstone and drops the bad news on Rhaenyra Targaryen. Not only is Viserys I dead but Aegon II has usurped the Iron Throne. All these cause Rhaenyra to miscarry while Daemon tries to get the war started.

It's clear that Daemon is itching to go to war but Rhaenyra isn't ready to go there yet. Still, Daemon wants to be ready for the bloodshed so he sets out to find the unclaimed dragons around Dragonstone. His first stop is a sleeping behemoth, who appears to be pleased with Daemon's song (which he sings in High Valyrian).

The dragon that Daemon awakens is Vermithor, who is also known as the Bronze Fury and the former dragon of King Jaehaerys I Targaryen. In Fire and Blood, the dragon accepts another dragonrider in the dragonseed Hugh Hammer who initially fights for Rhaenyra in the Dance of the Dragons.

Although Hugh is a Targaryen bastard who swore an oath to Rhaenyra, he and other dragonriders ultimately betray her and switch allegiance to Aegon II Targaryen. Needless to say, Vermithor would end up causing a lot of damage to the Blacks later in the civil war.

House of the Dragon Season 2 has already been confirmed. However, the second season of the Game of Thrones prequel has not yet been given an official release date. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
