Meet the Weirdest X-Men You Never Knew Existed

Besides iconic characters like Wolverine, Deadpool, and Professor X, many X-Men are still in the mutant universe with untapped potential. Countless mutants have fought for their rights, battled with dark forces, and shaped the history of X-Men and chances are, you're not even aware of their existence.

The story of these mutants deserves to be told. Continue with this post to learn about these X-Men you never knew existed.

Sarah Rushman (Earth-616)

Sarah Rushman, also known as the Marrow, was one of the underground-dwelling Morlocks. When the Morlock leader kidnaps the X-Man angel to be her husband, Sarah comes across the captive angel. Her mutant ability is generating bones from her body. While this was initially a survival mechanism, she somehow made it a defining characteristic.

Her journey is filled with constant struggle, as she has always juggled between being a villain and an anti-hero driven by her anger and desperation. Marrow's past experiences have made her a great fighter. She is a fantastic character but often fights with her inner demons.

Davis Cameron (Earth-616)

Davis Cameron, often called Slipstream, was discovered by the X-Treme X-Men. He then learned that his father was a deceased crime Lord of Sydney. Further, he became involved with the team and unknowingly developed a crush on Storm. His mutant powers were activated during an alien invasion, allowing him to locate his sister, Heather, who was abducted. Later, he is depowered by Scarlet Witch but regains them somehow.

Slipstream joined the mutant Krakoa nation and fought with the Russian Armed Forces to defend it. His powers allowed him to create a quantum portal and teleport objects and people over vast distances.

Sooraya Qadir (Earth-616)

Sooraya Qadir, a.k.a Dust, was a mutant born in Afghanistan with the power to transform into sand. She had a tough childhood as a kidnapped slave but was later rescued by the X-Men. Dust then joined the Xavier Institute but faced some challenges adapting to the new environment and the manipulative influence of Xorn. Further, she joined the Hellions' handmade friendship with her teammates.

Qadir became a vital member of the new X-Men but got serious threats from Stryker and Nimrod. She also joined the Young X-Men and faced some near-death experiences. Fighting with the X-Men in various conflicts, she became an essential part of the team and eventually became a citizen of Krakoa.

Morph (Earth-92131)

Morph is a mutant that can alter its appearance by transforming into humans, animals, and other objects. They joined the X-Men and developed a very close friendship with Wolverine. Morph was once rescued by Mister Sinister, who brainwashed them to seek revenge against their former teammates. They joined the X-Men again but struggled with PTSD and developed a fear of Sentinels. Further, they left the team but returned when Professor X was under attack.

Morphs' uncanny ability enables them to perfectly mimic the voices, sounds, and even physical attributes of others, transforming their bodies into exact replicas. However, this mutant struggles with their mental trauma and has a weakness in their scent. The character is portrayed as non-binary and has romantic feelings for Wolverine.

Lin Li (Earth-616)

Lin Li, also known as Armageddon Girl, can communicate, influence, and control nature and animals. She visited the Jean Grey School for Higher Learning and joined the X-Men later. The mutant deeply connects with the natural world and can manipulate plants and animals. She can also heal and purify the natural world. Her past is unknown, but she has been involved in several adventures with the X-Men.

With time, Lin Li's powers have grown stronger, and she has become more dedicated to saving the environment. She even clashes with some other X-Men and tries to use them to achieve her goals. But recently, her story has taken a darker turn as she is consumed by her desire for revenge against people who harm the environment.

Alisa Tager (Earth-616)

Alisa Tager, popularly as Cipher, is a skilled spy who has displayed several stealth-based powers, including intangibility, invisibility, telepathic undetectability, and inaudibility. Cyclops and Jean Grey discovered her, and she initially served as a secret surveillance guard for the X-Men. Despite this role, she developed a bond with a student, Blindfold.

Cipher has played a crucial role in several X-Men storylines and eventually became a full member of the Young X-Men. She continued to assist the team in various missions. She is also very trained in stealth and spying; her mutant powers greatly enhance this talent. X-Men leaders kept Cipher’s existence a secret, as the US government didn't catalog her along with the 198 mutants.

Trevor Hawkins (Earth-616)

Trevor Hawkins, a.k.a. Eye-Boy, is another mutant who can see through his 57 eyes in multiple directions. He can also view illusions, predict attacks, and read people's emotions and history. His powers have developed dramatically, allowing him to see magic waves, electronic wavelengths, and microwave radiation. When a Poison version of X-Force attacked the X-Mansion, he was the first target and was consumed by poison afterward. Despite this, Trevor has been seen alive, living, and training in Xavier's School.

The Eye-Boy is an excellent marksman and an expert in nonverbal communication. Dr. Strange has gifted him a magical lens that enhances his natural eyesight and mutant abilities. He has also started using laser weapons to improve his eyesight. However, this mutant still struggles with self-esteem despite all these abilities.

Ugly John (Earth-616)

Steve, or Ugly John, is probably the weirdest X-Men in the MCU. He has three faces side-by-side and was saved by Wolverine and Cyclops from a Sentinel in Sydney. Later, he was again captured by the Wild Sentinels, operated by Donald Trask and Cassandra Nova. He got seriously injured and was killed by Cyclops to end his suffering.

Later, the comics mention that Ugly John was presumably resurrected by The Five and lives in Krakoa. He still has no active powers, just three ugly faces.

These are the X-Men castaways, the forgotten heroes who could have changed everything. Their stories are a testament to the vastness of the mutant universe, which is far from over.
