What Happened to Emma and Sam in Gen V?
Sam and Emma meet in the third episode when Andre asks for Emma’s help to infiltrate The Woods. Emma finds Sam, but Sam refuses to leave, saying that he’s tried to get out before, but people get hurt.
Later on, Emma and Sam bond and enjoy each other’s company. Emma then apologizes for mentioning that her powers involve a lot of puking, which she finds gross. But Sam responds that Emma is the furthest thing from gross. He also thinks she’s pretty and brave.
Their heartfelt conversation gets interrupted because of an alarm, and guards enter the room. In Episode 4, it is revealed that Sam and Emma manage to escape, and they end up hiding in an old drive-in movie place.
Sam tells Emma that he should contact Luke because he’s the only one who can help. Emma reveals that Luke killed himself, and Sam starts breaking things and crying.
Emma assures Sam that she’s there for him, and Sam responds that she’ll leave too as everyone always leaves him. But Emma promises Sam that she’s with him.
When Sam calms down, he says that Luke was all he had. Emma tells Sam that she’s with him now and that she’s cool. Sam responds that he knows she’s cool, and that’s why he’s positive she will leave.
They start joking around for a little while until Emma tells Sam, “I guess then it’s just us. Together.” It appears that they almost kiss until Sam gets up and goes away.
Unfortunately, Sam starts hearing voices in his head. He then sees a fictionalized version of Jason Ritter and a puppet version of The Deep, and they convince him to kill The Woods’ Dr. Cardosa.
So, Sam goes after Dr. Cardosa. Emma, Andre, Cate, Marie, and Jordan try to stop Sam from killing Cardosa, but Sam is too powerful. Emma then grows taller than Cardosa’s house and pins Sam to the ground.
Emma then tells Sam, “Wherever we go, we promised we’re in this together.” Marie then says something until everything cuts to black.
In the fifth episode, it is revealed that Marie, Jordan, Emma, and Andre’s memories were wiped, making them forget who Sam was.
Sam tells Emma and Marie that “they” made them forget (“they” obviously means Dean Shetty, Vought, and The Woods), but he assures Emma that he will find a way to fix things and make her remember she’s a real hero.

Do Sam and Emma End Up Together in Gen V?
Sam and Emma do not end up together in Gen V Season 1.
In the sixth episode of Gen V, Cate brings back everyone's memories, and Emma immediately goes to Sam.
Sam admits that he missed her, for "real-real", and they get intimate. Later on, Sam tells Emma that he's messed up and that she should be with someone who isn't. But Emma says that she wants to be with Sam.
Things seemed fine between Sam and Emma, but then Sam chooses to help Cate “free The Woods” in Gen V Season 1’s finale. Sam shares the same views with Cate, with them thinking that Supes are superior.
Cate and Sam release all the prisoners in The Woods, and the freed Supes begin killing humans on the campus. Emma then confronts Sam and tells him that he doesn’t want to hurt people.
Sam responds that people hurt him. He then tells Emma that he didn’t ask her to rescue him and that she did that for herself.
Both of them argue, and Sam tells Emma that she wants what’s best for herself. Emma says that she risked everything for Sam, but the latter responds that she would do anything for everyone to like her.
Sam then tells Emma that she’s not a hero and leaves. This breaks Emma’s heart, and as she starts crying, Emma shrinks, which suggests that her powers are linked to her emotions and feelings and that she does not have to throw up to use them.
It is unlikely that Sam and Emma will get back together in Gen V Season 2. In the finale, Sam asks for Cate’s “help”, and the latter uses her powers to make Sam feel nothing. Now, Sam just “feels so empty.”
It also appears that Sam and Cate could be the potential villains for Gen V Season 2. They could also be potentially joining The Seven, as they are named the “Guardians of Godolkin” and would likely be Homelander’s allies.
So, Sam and Emma do not end up together in Gen V Season 1. We have yet to see if they get back together in Gen V Season 2, although based on what happened in the finale, that is unlikely.
