Speaking recently with Variety, Ewan McGregor opened up about his clamor to reprise the role of Obi-Wan Kenobi in the Star Wars franchise once again.

He shared that he has two ideas on how he would like to see the fan-favorite Jedi return. First, he suggested a story that takes place after the prequel trilogy where he reconnects with Yoda.

"It was very casual, but I said there’s got to be something. Because Yoda’s somewhere else," the actor said.

"After the end of Episode III, when we all go to the four or five corners of the galaxy — or however many corners it’s got! — I won’t have been in touch with him. But he’s out there. So I think there could be a story there where I’m trying to reach out to him."

Another idea that McGregor has is for his character and Hera Syndulla, played by his wife Mary Elizabeth Winstead in Ahsoka, to have a romantic relationship.

"I got very excited when Mary started working on Ahsoka. I thought, maybe this is the big love story — Obi-Wan and Hera," he added.

However, McGregor acknowledged that the two characters "were in different time frames."

Nevertheless, he'd "be up" for the possibility of returning to the franchise, especially if it's the second season of Obi-Wan Kenobi.

"I enjoyed doing the series very much… and would be happy to do it again. I like playing him — he’s a really good character to play," McGregor said.
