Lucasfilm and Disney have finally released the Ahsoka Season 2 trailer after a nearly three-year wait since the first season ended.
From the confirmation of Zeb Orellios’ (Steve Blum) appearance to Grand Admiral Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen) declaring war, a lot is about to happen in the new season.
The trailer also reveals that Anakin will have a major role in the series. However, in one of his The Clone Wars-era flashback scenes, a mysterious character appears and looks like The Son.
Appearing at the nine-second mark, the mysterious character, who has the same facial markings as The Son from the animated series, wields his lightsaber as Anakin and young Ahsoka prepare for a battle.
A fight then ensues between the three, with Anakin seemingly bringing the battle to an end.
While it remains to be seen whether this mysterious character is indeed The Son, the markings around his eyes are a major clue pointing to his identity.
It’s also worth noting that the animated and live-action versions of Star Wars characters don’t always look exactly alike, as proven by the appearances of Thrawn and other Ghost crew members in Ahsoka compared to their animated counterparts.
That said, many are willing to believe that the mysterious character Anakin and young Ahsoka are fighting is The Son, especially since the scene takes place during a The Clone Wars-era flashback.
Who Is The Son in the Star Wars Universe?
The Star Wars prequel trilogy, beginning with 1999’s Episode I – The Phantom Menace, introduced midi-chlorians and the Chosen One prophecy.
For starters, the Chosen One prophecy is about an individual born without a father who has a massive midi-chlorian count. These microscopic, intelligent life-forms live inside the cells of all living things, and the Chosen One is prophesied to bring ultimate balance to the Force by destroying the Sith.
The Clone Wars took these concepts much further by introducing the Mortis Gods, also called The Ones, a trio of powerful beings consisting of the Father, the Son, and the Daughter, who embody the Force itself.
Here, the Son represents the dark side, while the Daughter represents the light side, and the Father embodies balance.
However, all three died at the end of The Clone Wars’ Mortis arc, while Anakin, Ahsoka, and Obi-Wan Kenobi had their memories erased, causing them to forget the trio’s existence.
But it looks like this won’t be the end of the Mortis Gods, especially after the Ahsoka Season 1 finale featured a shot of Baylan Skoll (Ray Stevenson) standing on top of a statue of the Father, seemingly hinting at his quest to find the three gods.
So, with the Son’s appearance in the trailer, it looks like the Ones could be featured in Ahsoka Season 2, which is set to premiere on January 20, 2027, on Disney+.
