A lot is about to happen when Ahsoka finally returns for Season 2. In addition to the appearance of Anakin Skywalker’s (Hayden Christensen) Force Ghost, showrunner Dave Filoni has also confirmed the arrival of the Mortis Gods.
Now, Eman Esfandi, who plays Ezra Bridger, has teased what fans can expect when the new season finally arrives.
“A lot of other well-beloved characters that we get to spend more time with in live-action, I think everyone’s going to be really happy with them,” he said during a panel at LA Comic Con (via ComicBook). “So, I’m very excited about the new characters we get to spend more time with.”
While Esfandi didn't reveal whether new animated characters would be joining the series, his comments suggest that could be the case.
Of course, this could include several other characters, but fans are particularly looking forward to seeing Ezra’s Jedi Master, Kanan Jarrus, make his live-action debut.
If Kanan finally appears in Ahsoka Season 2, it would give Star Wars Rebels fans another long-awaited character transition from animation to live-action.
How Can Kanan Jarrus Appear in Ahsoka Season 2?
Unfortunately, Kanan Jarrus has already met his demise in Star Wars Rebels during a rescue mission on the planet Lothal.
Kanan sacrificed himself by standing his ground on an exploding fuel tank platform to save his family. He used the Force to hold back the wall of fire and push the gunship carrying Hera, Ezra, and Sabine to safety.
Despite his sacrifice, Jarrus' body remained visible long enough for him to look at Hera one last time before he was consumed by the flames and became one with the Force.
Despite his death, Jarrus could still appear in Ahsoka Season 2 through flashbacks. The first season already did something similar with Anakin and Captain Rex (Temuera Morrison).
He could also appear as a Force Ghost, much like Anakin, although he would need to have learned how to use this Force ability.
Considering that he has a son, Jacen (Evan Whitten), whom he never got to see grow up, watching Jarrus' Force Ghost meet his child for the first time would probably be the most heartwarming way to bring him back.
Ahsoka Season 2 premieres on January 20, 2027.
