Lucasfilm has finally unveiled the first trailer for the highly anticipated Ahsoka Season 2 at the recent D23 Expo, teasing not just Anakin Skywalker’s (Hayden Christensen) return but also setting up a connection to The Mandalorian and Grogu.
Eman Esfandi was serious when he previously revealed that showrunner Dave Filoni “went nuts” while making the show’s second season, with massive action sequences and intense turns of events happening here and there.
So, with Grand Admiral Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen) warning of a war to come, how does Ahsoka Season 2 connect to The Mandalorian and Grogu?
How Does Ahsoka Season 2 Tie Into The Mandalorian and Grogu?

Zeb (Steve Blum) has finally made his appearance in the Ahsoka Season 2 trailer after being absent from the first season. Here, he is finally reunited with his old friends, sharing a warm embrace with Ezra (Eman Esfandi).
But this isn’t the first time the Lasat warrior has been seen in live-action Star Wars.
After his last appearance in Star Wars Rebels as part of the Ghost crew, he made a cameo in The Mandalorian Season 3 and played a bigger role in The Mandalorian & Grogu, working with Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and Grogu as they try to find Rotta the Hutt (Jeremy Allen White).
With Zeb’s connection to Rotta, Djarin, and Grogu, as well as his appearance in Ahsoka Season 2, does this mean the show has a connection to The Mandalorian & Grogu?
Thrawn revealed that a war is coming, and he might use his fleet to eliminate the New Republic and re-establish the Empire as the dominant force in the galaxy.
With the stakes so high, it may only be reasonable for Djarin and Rotta to join the fight. Considering their capabilities and standing in the New Republic, it would be surprising if they didn’t join a great war as big as the one Thrawn is about to start.
We know Rotta is now working with the New Republic, and Mando has been working as an independent contractor for the “good guys,” so Zeb may call on their help in the fight against Thrawn.
What Does the Ahsoka Season 2 Trailer Reveal?

The Ahsoka Season 2 trailer reveals an epic galactic conflict is about to unfold, and it may take place across two different galaxies.
By the looks of it, the new season will feature dual storylines, with one set in the mainline Star Wars galaxy, where Thrawn has declared war on the New Republic, while the other takes place on the distant planet of Peridea, where Ahsoka (Rosario Dawson) and Sabine (Natasha Liu Bordizzo) are stuck after helping Ezra return to the main galaxy in Season 1.
At one point in the trailer, Ahsoka foresees a vision of a war, hinting at the possibility of her and Sabine trying to find their way back home to help Hera Syndulla (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) and the rest of their allies.
So, fans will have to wait and see how the two storylines collide as the second season begins. True enough, as Esfandi teased earlier, there would be plenty of “action, fights, battles, explosions, lightsabers, and lasers” happening.
Of course, the trailer also reveals Ahsoka Season 2’s release date: January 20, 2027, on Disney+.
