What Is Ahsoka Season 2's Connection to Spider-Man: Brand New Day?
In an interview with TheWrap at D23, Ahsoka star Eman Esfandi shared how the second season of Ahsoka is weirdly connected to Spider-Man: Brand New Day, when they were filming last year.
As it turns out, both projects were shot at the same time. They filmed right next to each other at Pinewood Studios in London. Because of this, Esfandi managed to play MJ's boyfriend in the MCU film.
"[Brand New Day] was such a short shoot for me while I was shooting Star Wars, like, next door. I was shooting at the stage next door for months," the actor said.
However, the proximity was not the reason why Esfandi was cast in the film. Instead, his involvement was spearheaded by casting director Sarah Halley Finn.
While his role in Spider-Man: New Day was small, Esfandi praised how Tom Holland and Zendaya were welcoming to him when he was working on set.
"Tom and Zendaya are two of the biggest actors in the world. They're professionals. Tom was the first one to come on set and say, 'Hey, man, welcome to the team.' 'Oh, nice.' So I felt very welcome," he said.
"And then Zendaya, Jacob [Batalon], and Destin [Daniel Cretton], the director, were just so relaxed and casual. They were like, 'That's going to work. Yeah, you're great there.' Everything felt so quick and easy that it came and went in a flash."
While Esfandi managed to appear in the film, his Ahsoka co-star Rosario Dawson was supposed to reprise the role of Claire Temple, but her scene was cut.
