Following her breakthrough success in Obsession, Inde Navarrette has found the next original movie she will star in.

The 25-year-old rising star has been on the map in Hollywood since the horror film's massive box office and critical success. She has also received Oscar buzz for her performance as Nikki and has been cast to play Rogue in the upcoming MCU reboot of X-Men.

Now, the actress has found her next movie starring role that might be the audience's next obsession.

What Is Inde Navarrette's Next Movie About?

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Inde Navarrette will be starring in an original sci-fi thriller film titled The Waffle House Index. The project was recently picked up by Apple Original Films.

Louis Paxton is attached to direct the film, while the script is written by Andrew Nunnelly. Brad Pitt's Plan B Entertainment is producing the project. Navarrette is also involved as an executive producer.

The story centers on "a Waffle House waitress whose already bad day gets worse when a stranger with a gun shows up during her night shift. What happens after involves a mass flood, killer crocodiles, a nuclear explosion, a magical bunker under the Waffle House, and aliens."

Navarrette will be playing the Waffle House waitress, the film's main character.

The concept is inspired by the so-called "Waffle House Index," which is an informal barometer of a hurricane’s severity, and the levels are based on how much service an area’s Waffle House has. Green means the restaurant is in full service mode, and the damage isn’t severe; yellow means a limited menu, indicating low food supplies; and red means a closed restaurant and a sign of unsafe conditions."

The report noted how the project is a big deal for the actress, as their insider stated: "Apple is the ultimate star-driven studio, so this is a sign of how big a star Inde Navarrette is now."

The Obsession Phenomenon

Obsession follows a hopeless romantic who snaps a branch from the mysterious "One Wish Willow" to win over his crush. While his wish comes true, he quickly learns that some desires carry a dark, sinister price.

It made its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival last year. It sparked a massive bidding war, leading Focus Features to acquire the distribution rights for a historic $14–$15 million. Jason Blum also joined the project as an executive producer under Blumhouse Productions.

When it was released in theaters last May, it became an absolute juggernaut. It was lauded by critics and audiences alike and became Focus Features' highest-grossing film of all time. It is now also one of the highest-grossing original films this decade, as it earned more than $500 million worldwide.
