- Quick Answer: Qimir is a former Jedi acolyte of Vernestra Rwoh who rejected both Jedi and Sith paths, potentially founding the Knights of Ren after his exile.
It may have been almost two years since Star Wars: The Acolyte was canceled, but there’s no denying that it gave birth to one of the most popular dark side characters, Qimir / The Stranger.
Played by Manny Jacinto, the mysterious warrior became the series’ breakout star and an instant fan favorite.
However, as his character remained largely unexplored, his true identity has been the subject of many theories, several of which the series’s showrunner, Leslye Headland, has confirmed. So, is there a chance for Qimir’s story to continue?
Will Qimir’s Future Continue in the Star Wars Universe?

The Acolyte may have been canceled, but there’s still a chance for Qimir’s story to continue in the Star Wars universe.
For instance, Lucasfilm and Disney could create a spinoff series centered on the story of The Stranger himself.
Although the show has been subjected to serious fan backlash and review bombing, Qimir remains incredibly popular among fans, who are eager to see his journey continue
A spinoff could explore Qimir’s time with both the Jedi and the Sith before he rejected them and forged his own path as a Knight of Ren.
If not on TV, Qimir’s story could also be told through novels or comics, a format the franchise has successfully used with characters like Kylo Ren.
If this happens, fans would surely celebrate the chance to see Qimir’s story as the First Ren, whether on TV or in comics.
What are the Revelations About The Acolyte’s Qimir?
Headland made several revelations about Qimir during an interview with The George Lucas Talk Show and in excerpts from The Art of The Acolyte book.
One of the biggest revelations Headland shared was that Qimir is not a true Sith in the Disney+ series. This was further suggested when he told Master Sol (Lee Jung-jae) that he “would likely” call him a Sith Lord, implying that he didn’t consider himself one.
By all appearances, Qimir has rejected the idea of being a Sith after also rejecting the tenets of the Jedi Order.
Also, Headland confirmed that the scars on Qimir’s back were inflicted by Jedi Master Vernestra Rwoh (Rebecca Henderson) using her unique lightwhip. This confirms that Vernestra and Qimir had a complicated past, with Vernestra having once been his Jedi Master.
Vernestra appeared to have only used Sol as a scapegoat for Qimir’s murders, giving herself time to track her former “acolyte” while appeasing the Galactic Senate.
In addition, the book suggests that Qimir was likely the first to establish the Knights of Ren. Having rejected both the Jedi and the Sith, Qimir may have been the founder of this group of dark side warriors.
Later led by Ben Solo (Adam Driver), this would explain the similarities in visual style and presence between Ben and Qimir.
