The Acolyte season 2 held more potential than we realize. Apart from the cliffhangers, the showrunner previously revealed that Qimir (Manny Jacinto) might have had a connection to the Knights of Ren.
Here's what The Acolyte star had to say about it.

Recently speaking with TV Insider, Manny Jacinto opens up about his take on The Acolyte showrunner Leslye Headland's post-cancellation reveal about scrapped plans for Qimir, aka the Stranger.
"I did run into an article about it, and I think Leslye cleared things up a little bit," Jacinto said, "That a possible path was that Qimir was one of the first Knights of Ren, so that was a possibility to explore."
He added, "I think there would've been maybe more of a Master-Padawan relationship with [Qimir and Vernestra Rwoh in season 2], but who knows? I don't know if we'll ever see it."
Lucasfilm previously cancelled The Acolyte season 2 for unknown reasons, despite the series casting a good future for the Star Wars franchise. Who would've known it had a bigger impact in unraveling the galaxy's future?

Meanwhile, despite the abrupt season 2 cancellation on Jacinto's birthday, the 38-year-old is still open to returning and reprising his role as Qimir, should Lucasfilm take another chance on The Acolyte's continuation.
"I am always ready, and I would love to run it back if they'd have me," the actor confirmed, "That was a role of a lifetime, and I'm incredibly proud of what we did in The Acolyte and with Oshamir, with that whole relationship."
Jacinto continued that he would have loved to see more of "love and relationships", considering that "a lot of franchises" we currently have are "missing the romance."
"We have the big fight scenes and the origin stories of these heroes and whatnot, but they don't really have a relationship with other people. It's such a weird thing." He added that that's why Qimir and Osha's relationship was different, since they formed a "relationship" in the galaxy far, far away, yet to clarify if this meant Qimir and Osha are romantically involved or not.
"I think that's what made the characters and the story more compelling as opposed to just having big fight sequences, which I loved," Jacinto shared.
As of writing, The Acolyte season 2 has no renewal plans as Lucasfilm is moving past the High Republic Era in live-action and publishing.
