The Boys

The Boys follows a group of vigilantes fighting against superpowered individuals known as Supes.

This team has been at the center of the series since the very beginning. While some of their allies and friends have died along the way, the core members have remained alive so far.

However, that may change as Butcher begins advocating for the genocide of all Supes, creating a deep divide within the group that quickly turns deadly.

The rest of the Boys attempt to stop him, but Butcher, determined to carry out his plan, turns against his own teammates.

He begins killing their allies, including the Legend, Love Sausage, and Mother’s Milk’s ex-wife. When confronted, Butcher escalates further, using an explosion that kills Frenchie and Kimiko to prevent them from sabotaging his plan.

With Hughie left as the only remaining member, the two face off atop the Empire State Building. Despite falling and breaking his neck, Butcher continues the fight. In the end, Hughie drives a metal spike through Butcher’s chest, killing him.

At the end, Hughie and Starlight are the only ones left alive, with the Boys essentially destroying themselves from within.

Meanwhile, Homelander also meets his end in the comics after a brutal confrontation with Black Noir, who is ultimately revealed to be his clone.

The Boys

While the ending of The Boys comics is undeniably heartbreaking, there’s a strong chance the TV series may take a different path.

In the show, Butcher could still find redemption, potentially avoiding the deaths of Frenchie, Kimiko, and MM. In fact, with only four episodes left in Season 5, it may be difficult to fully build toward that outcome.

Instead, the series might shift its focus to Homelander’s downfall at the hands of the Boys. The twist involving Black Noir as Homelander’s clone may also be changed or omitted–possibly replaced by another character, such as Sister Sage.

After all, the show has already loosely explored the “twisted origin” angle by revealing Soldier Boy as Homelander’s father, making the clone storyline less essential.

That said, the TV adaptation could deliver a more satisfying and less tragic ending than the comics–though fans will have to wait and see how the remaining episodes unfold.

New episodes of The Boys Season 5 are released every Wednesday at 12:00 a.m. PT / 3:00 a.m. ET on Prime Video.
