Who Is the King in Monsters 103: Mercies Dragon Damnation?
The King is the legendary figure who is known as the greatest swordsman in the world in the lore of Monsters 103: Mercies Dragon Damnation.
He has the heart and soul of a true warrior, and people respect his swordsmanship skills above all others.
Even the owner of Gerard restaurant talks highly about the King, even though he doesn’t know where he is or what he looks like in person.
The King’s identity also intrigued the wandering samurai, Ryuma, who wound up in the restaurant after Flair (Flare) gave him food to eat. He said he wanted to fight this “King” someday.
However, some people in town believe that the master swordsman, Shirano, would give the king a run for his money.
They look up to Shirano after the miracle he did during the Great Surprise Attack years ago, which boosted his popularity after all.
What everyone didn’t know, including Ryuma, is that the identity of the so-called King is none other than Ryuma himself.
By the end of Monsters 103, both in the anime and the manga, the owner of Gerard Restaurant realizes that Ryuma is whom people call Ryuma the King.
He has the heart of the world’s greatest warrior, and all the people whose lives he saved call him by this nickname.
Unfortunately, Ryuma isn’t aware of his moniker at all.
Why Is Ryuma Unaware of His Moniker in Monsters 103: Mercies Dragon Damnation? Theories Explored
There’s no actual explanation for why Ryuma is unaware of his royal title in Monsters 103.
Some fans believe that Ryuma has always been quick to exit the scene whenever he saves someone or an entire town, which is why he has never been praised at all.
For instance, in Flair’s town, which Ryuma saved from the dragon’s wrath, he quickly disappeared before anyone could realize that he was the king. He never even waited for the people to apologize to him!
Others speculate that Ryuma doesn’t need to know about his moniker.
They would rather have a genuinely clueless Ryuma who’s constantly in search of the legendary figure so that he has someone to look forward to meeting and defeating.
