WandaVision is set to introduce a new character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe named Agnes but some fans still don't know what to make of her. Is she a friend or a foe? If you're still left scratching your heads, wonder no more. We got you covered!
Agnes is played by Kathryn Hahn and we got our first glimpse at her intriguing character in the first WandaVision trailer which dropped last September. Avid readers of the comics, especially Wanda and Vision's run from the '80s are well-aware of the villain named Agatha Harkness ("Ag" and "Nes", got it?) who once served as Maximoff's mentor when she was learning the art of witchcraft.
But as it turns out, she actually works side-by-side with the demon Mephisto who is also expected to debut in the MCU spinoff series. Several theories have suggested that Wanda makes a pact with the devil and Agatha Harkness is there to make sure everything goes according to plan.
Agatha has always played a vital role in the life of the Scarlet Witch, even during her modern-day comic book run which is why it's only fitting that she finally got introduced in the MCU. And just like her role in the comics, Agatha, or should I say "Agnes" will most likely be responsible for unleashing Wanda's untapped potential. This could be the reason why she still manages to exist in the reality Wanda created.
The official synopsis for WandaVision reads:
Marvel Studios' WandaVision blends the style of classic sitcoms with the Marvel Cinematic Universe in which Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany)—two super-powered beings living their ideal suburban lives—begin to suspect that everything is not as it seems.
Officially consisting of nine episodes, WandaVision premieres on January 15, 2021, on Disney+.
