VALORANT doesn't just have Valorant Points as its in-game currency; Riot's tactical FPS also offers players the chance to get Radianite Points, but what are they? And how are they different from Valorant Points?
While Valorant Points is the main currency of VALORANT that lets you unlock weapon skins, Battle Passes, tiers on your agent contracts, and other cosmetics in the game, Radianite Points work differently, and if you have them in your inventory and wondering how they work exactly, here's a breakdown of how Radianite Points, so you can get the best bang for your buck.
What are Radianite Points?
Radianite Points (RPs) are another type of currency in VALORANT that serves a different purpose from Valorant Points (VPs). While VPs are used to buy almost anything in the game, including RPs, RPs are described as currency "used to evolve certain weapon skins and other content types in the game."
RPs won't let you buy weapon skins, Battle Passes, or agents, but they allow you to upgrade your weapons. However, these upgrades are purely aesthetic so they won't make the weapons any stronger, but they will make certain skins look and sound cooler.
Certain weapon skins and melee, especially most of the Premium ones, can be upgraded to have their signature sound, visual effects, animations, and finisher effects. RPs are used for the purpose of unlocking these upgrades, so even if you purchase the weapon skins with VPs, you will still need RPs to upgrade them. It usually takes 10 RPs to unlock an upgrade level, and certain weapons have up to 4 upgrade levels, so if you want to fully upgrade your weapon skins, you will need to have enough RPs to unlock multiple levels for each weapon skin.
There are also finisher animations you can unlock using RPs, and most upgradeable weapons usually take about 30 to 50 RPs to fully upgrade them.
RPs can also be used to unlock color variants for certain weapon skins, and one color variant usually costs 15 RPs to unlock, so if you want that Gold or Red variant for your Glitchpop Vandal, you will need 15 RPs to unlock each color.
Once you've used the RPs to upgrade your weapon skins, you will have those upgrades permanently in your account.
How do you acquire Radianite Points?
There are two ways to acquire RPs: By purchasing them with VPs or unlocking them through the paid track of your Battle Pass.
Here are the costs if you want to purchase RPs with VPs.
20 Radianite Points = 1,600 Valorant Points ( $15 USD).
40 Radianite Points = 2,800 Valorant Points ( $25 USD).
80 Radianite Points = 4,800 Valorant Points ( $45 USD).
There are multiple tiers in the Battle Pass that you can unlock to acquire RPs to it's a great deal to purchase a Battle Pass as each one usually just costs $10 USD. Note that each Battle Pass has an expiration date, so make sure you get enough XP to unlock the most "free" RPs.

Players can also acquire Radianite Points in free event passes like the Cosmic Crossover Event that was launched with the release of Episode 5, Act 1.
How to use Radianite Points?
Once you have RPs in your inventory, you should be ready to use them to upgrade certain weapon skins. Of course, you would rather prioritize upgrading the weapons you use more often such as the Phantom and Vandal over the Shorty or Guardian, so spend your RPs wisely if you want to get the most out of them.
Here are the steps on how to use your RPs:
1. Select the weapon skin.
2. On the right-hand side, you should see a table showing you the available upgrades. (Note that some weapon skins are not upgradeable).
3. Confirm the upgrade purchase using your RPs.
4. Make sure to equip that particular weapon skin under the Collection tab, and you should be able to change color variants there.
5. Show off your awesome weapon skins in your match. (Warning: Some of your teammates might request you to provide your weapon skins for them in the game, but doing so will not cause you to lose them from your collection.)
Fully upgrading weapons in VALORANT is definitely not cheap since you will need to first buy the weapon skins with VPs, then buy and/or acquire RPs via the Battle Pass to unlock certain weapon skin upgrades and color variants, so always remember that before purchasing any new weapon skins.
Some weapon skin bundles like the RGX Pro Bundle and the Protocol_781-A bundle will require a lot of RP to fully upgrade them, so make sure you save enough RPs for new weapon skins if you want to unlock their awesome animation, finishers, and other effects.
