Nintendo of America has dropped the final trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, and among the many reveals is an easter egg that teased the arrival of another hidden boss.
Sure, Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Toad, Yoshi, and Rosalina will have their hands full dealing with Bowser, Bowser Jr., and their army of minions, alongside other franchise foes like Mouser, Megaleg, Clawgrip, Birdo, and Wart.
However, it looks like they won’t be the only enemies the heroes will have to face.
Will Another Boss Appear in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie?
In the The Super Mario Galaxy Movie trailer, Princess Peach and Toad enter a casino filled with Super Mario enemies.
Wart then appears on the scene, possibly alongside another franchise boss, Dino Piranha.
Based on the design of the doorway above where Peach and Toad are standing, there’s a strong possibility that the giant Piranha Plant could appear in the sequel.
The design seems to resemble two variations of classic Super Mario enemies: Petey Piranha and Dino Piranha.
While Petey is the more famous of the two, Dino is the one more closely tied to the Super Mario Galaxy series, serving as a boss in both Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2.
So while the design could simply be an easter egg, it may also hint that Dino will be one of the enemies Mario and the rest of the gang will have to face.
So far, the movie only features one boss from the Super Mario Galaxy games: Megaleg. Most of the villains revealed so far appear to come from Super Mario Bros. 2, so it would make sense to include more enemies from the Super Mario Galaxy series, and Dino could be one of them.
What is The Super Mario Galaxy Movie About?
The upcoming The Super Mario Galaxy Movie will follow the events of the first film, with Bowser Jr. seeking vengeance and forcing the heroes into a galactic adventure to save the universe.
This time, Mario, Luigi, Peach, and Toad embark on a spacefaring journey to stop Bowser Jr. from freeing a shrunken Bowser. In addition to exploring cosmic worlds, the group will meet Rosalina and welcome Yoshi to the team.
The film will see the return of Chris Pratt as Mario, Charlie Day as Luigi, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Jack Black as Bowser, and Keegan-Michael Key as Toad.
