What is the Plot of The Super Mario Galaxy Movie?

A teaser trailer was recently released, giving fans their first glimpse of the upcoming movie. It revealed that Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, and the others will have their next adventure across the galaxy and have a face-off with Bowser Jr.

Fan-favorite character Rosalina is also revealed to have a key part in the film, and fans are already excited to see what they have in store for her debut in the Super Mario animated movie franchise.

The post-credits scene in the first film revealed that Yoshi is also set to make an appearance in the sequel, but none of the footage so far has revealed any first look.

In an October 2024 interview, star Keegan-Michael Key teased that the film will be "broader in scope" and expected to feature "new folks and old favorites and some folks that [he thinks] are really deep cuts."

Who is Returning in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie? Who is Joining the Cast?

Chris Pratt (Mario), Charlie Day (Luigi), Anya Taylor-Joy (Princess Peach), Jack Black (Bowser), Keegan-Michael Key (Toad), and Kevin Michael Richardson (Kamek) are all confirmed to reprise their voice roles from the first film.

Joining the cast for the sequel are Brie Larson, who will be voicing the role of Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, who will be voicing the role of Bowser Jr., who is seemingly teased as the main antagonist.

No casting has been made yet for the voice role of Yoshi. It is also unknown whether Seth Rogen and Fred Armisen will be reprising the voice roles of Donkey Kong and Cranky Kong from the first film.

When is The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Coming Out?

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is currently scheduled for release in theaters on April 3, 2026. It will also be available in premium formats such as RealD 3D and IMAX.
