How to Use ExpressVPN to Watch The Lord of the Rings
If you are outside a region where The Lord of the Rings isn't available on Prime Video, you will need a VPN to bypass geo-restrictions and watch the trilogy.
We recommend ExpressVPN or VeePN as our two favorite VPNs for streaming, albeit for different reasons.
ExpressVPN is great because it delivers lightning-fast speeds and access to over 3,000 servers across 105 countries. Alternatively, VeePN offers reliable performance with more than 2,600 servers and affordable plans starting at just $1.99 per month, making global streaming accessible on a budget.

What's Next for the Lord of the Rings Franchise?
The Lord of the Rings franchise may have been idle, but apart from the non-canon Tolkien lore on Prime, The Rings of Power, there's actually an upcoming movie that will bring fans back to the original trilogy era.
Warner Bros. confirmed that they plan to release the first of its new batch of live-action LOTR films in 2026, with the first to focus on Andy Serkis, titled The Hunt for Gollum, which takes place during The Fellowship of the Ring, but does not overlap with the hobbits' journey.
The studios first confirmed their extensive project for the franchise in February 2023, in which they had brokered a deal to make "multiple" films based on J.R.R. Tolkien's books, venturing deeper into Middle-earth.
The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum is set to release on December 17, 2027. Stay tuned!
