The latest episode of The Acolyte just revealed exactly what happened on Brendok that led to the destruction of Mother Aniseya’s coven. However, some questions remain about the overall story—specifically about Qimir.

Many fans are convinced that Qimir is working for someone else pulling the strings, and the latest episode, Choice, may have just given a hint on who exactly he’s working for and how they were tied to the coven.

Is Mother Koril a Sith Lord?

Following the latest episode, fans deduced that Mother Koril orchestrates Qimir’s actions. She trained him, shaping him into a tool for her vendetta against the Jedi.

As some fans have pointed out when Torbin and Sol clash with the witches, Koril uses the same technique Aniseya uses: she turns into a mist but never reappears.

It can even be said that after Indara performs an ‘exorcism’ on Kelnacca, some of the coven’s consciousness stays in his mind—that’s why he has some of the coven’s symbols drawn all over his hut when he is in hiding.

The theory is that Koril escapes and trains Qimir to be her apprentice, exacting her revenge on Indara’s team. Some theories even suggest that Koril is also an apprentice working for a Sith master and that she was infiltrating the coven to learn their secrets. While possible, the story's structure suggests that Koril could be the head of the snake everyone has been looking for.

Some Questions That Still Aren’t Answered

While the episode gave fans answers about what exactly happened that night on Brendok, there is still the question of how the twins were created. Many theories have pointed to the two being a Force dyad like Rey and Kylo Ren, but some are still convinced that they are closer to Anakin Skywalker, who was ‘conceived of the Force’, i.e., without a father.

Either way, it does seem like there were more nefarious plans for the twins. When Indara asks why the children are expected to lead the coven, Mae quotes Aniseya: "Everyone must walk through fear. Everyone must be sacrificed to fulfil their destiny.” There must also be a reason why Koril is so against Aniseya’s decision to let Osha leave with the Jedi.

With one episode left, fans are worried that there may not be enough time to wrap up the story satisfactorily. If anything, there are plans for a second season, and if all goes smoothly, fans could get a continuation of Leslye Headland’s Star Wars murder mystery.
