The recently-aired episode 6 of The Acolyte may have teased a tragic backstory for Qimir that led to his dark side turn and become a Sith Lord.

Last week's episode revealed that Qimir is behind the mysterious Sith Lord figure that the series has been teasing since the premiere. It also suggested that Qimir and Sol may have a connection in the past that led to the character's vengeance mission.

Since then, fans have been speculating on what kind of backstory Qimir has that led to becoming a Sith and his potential connection to the four Jedis in the event in Brendok 16 years ago that separated Mae and Osha.

Spoiler Warning: This article includes spoilers for The Acolyte episode 6, so proceed with caution.

The Acolyte Episode 6 Suggests Tragic Backstory for Qimir

The recently-aired episode 6 of The Acolyte titled "Teach/Corrupt" dealt with the aftermath of the cliffhanger of last week's episode where Mae and Osha switched places and the latter found herself to be under the purview of Qimir.

Throughout the episode, we witnessed a relationship formed between Osha and Qimir as they learned more about each other while Qimir was trying to convince Osha to join his side and abandon the Jedi way of using the Force.

During Qimir's shirtless scenes, we see that he has a lot of scars throughout his body, suggesting a tragic event in the past that traumatized him physically and emotionally.

Qimir also revealed that he was training as a Jedi in the past before he was abandoned by his master, leading to his path to the dark side and becoming a Sith Lord.

This opens up a lot of questions regarding Qimir's backstory as it is pretty clear now that he has a tragic backstory and it's interesting what exactly happened to him that led to his dark side turn.

Unfortunately, fans may have to wait until the second season before they learn about his backstory as showrunner Leslye Headland revealed recently that it won't be explored in the rest of the first season.

"Because it's Osha's story, you don't know much about The Stranger's background and you're not really going to learn much about it. But there are a bunch of things in episode 6 and episode 8 that are really big clues as to why he is the way he is and why his philosophy is the way that it is," she teased.

The series has planted enough seeds for Qimir's backstory so far that give us an idea of his origins, and it is curious to see how it all plays out when they finally explore it in the second season.

New episodes of The Acolyte premiere every Tuesday night on Disney+.
