Patrick Mahomes, the football quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs, is now going viral after a Facebook post claimed he would allegedly boycott the 2026 Super Bowl if Bad Bunny were to headline the Halftime Show.

The annual event has become controversial after the NFL, Apple Music, and Roc Nation announced that the Puerto Rican rapper-singer would lead the performance. So, did Mahomes really say it—or not?

What Did Patrick Mahomes Say About the 2026 Super Bowl Halftime Show and Bad Bunny?

The Facebook fan page Kansas Champs shared an article by Fiatagri claiming that Mahomes said he would not play during the 2026 Super Bowl if Bad Bunny were to perform.

“If Bad Bunny performs, count me out,” the 30-year-old allegedly said in a “brief but explosive media statement after practice.” “This is football, not a political stage.”

Reporters supposedly described the scene as “tense and electric,” while head coach Andy Reid and tight end Travis Kelce allegedly tried to calm Mahomes down, urging him to focus on the game.

“It felt like the entire locker room went silent,” a source was quoted as saying. “Patrick is our leader. When he speaks like that, everyone listens—and worries.”

Another Facebook page, Sunday at Arrowhead, also claimed that Mahomes said he would rather take part in an All-American event honoring the late Charlie Kirk than join the 2026 Super Bowl.

This appears to reference Turning Point USA’s announcement of a separate show meant to counter Bad Bunny’s Halftime performance.

“I’m an American—I’d rather be part of something All-American than the NFL’s circus,” the quarterback allegedly said.

Despite the traction these posts have gained, none of these claims are true. These reports are fake news, as there are no verified statements suggesting that Mahomes would boycott the 2026 Super Bowl due to Bad Bunny headlining the Halftime Show.

In fact, Mahomes has not expressed any political affiliations or opinions regarding Bad Bunny or Charlie Kirk. If he had, it would have been covered by major news outlets and sports media.

Instead, the claim has only circulated on social media and been reported by questionable websites. Even established sports journalists and official NFL representatives have not confirmed any such statements from Mahomes.

While it’s true that there is controversy surrounding Bad Bunny’s upcoming 2026 Super Bowl Halftime Show, it appears that NFL players are not getting involved.

The backlash has mainly come from certain conservative and MAGA-aligned groups, criticizing the 31-year-old artist for his political stances, advocacy for immigrant rights, and avoidance of US concerts over fears of government raids.

However, despite the criticism and complaints, it seems nothing will stop Bad Bunny’s Halftime Show from happening.
