Keanu Reeves to Voice Shadow in Sonic the Hedgehog 3
It was recently confirmed that John Wick star Keanu Reeves has been cast to voice Shadow in Sonic the Hedgehog 3.
He is joining an already stellar voice cast for the CGI characters that include the likes of Ben Schwartz (as Sonic), Idris Elba (as Knuckles), and Colleen O'Shaughnessey (as Tails).
As most Sonic the Hedgehog fans know, Shadow is a black hedgehog who is usually portrayed as an anti-hero in the games and occasionally a foe to Sonic, which will likely happen in the upcoming film.
Keanu Reeves Was Already Referenced in the First Sonic the Hedgehog Movie
A lot of fans were delighted when news came that Reeves is officially the voice of Shadow in the upcoming film.
Some of them also noticed that Reeves was already referenced in the first Sonic the Hedgehog film where the titular character is seen watching Speed and expressing his love for the actor.
Now that Reeves is the voice of Shadow, it is interesting to see whether the film will have a joke where Sonic recognizes his favorite actor when he faces off against the antagonist.
It will be a fun easter egg for fans if ever they reference Sonic's love for Reeves again in the upcoming film given the circumstances or perhaps the actor will also do a different voice when he performs the role to make it more unrecognizable.
Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is scheduled for release in theaters on December 20.
