With Black Widow coming out next May, it has fans buzzing about the Russian spy and how she has been used in the MCU. Though her use has been controversial at times (looking at you Age of Ultron), most would agree that she was a great MCU character. Her Avengers: Endgame death also got people talking, with many shocked that it happened and others thinking that she deserved better. During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Black Widow actress Scarlett Johansson has decided to defend her character's death.
She feels that the character's death made a ton of sense since she has always been willing to sacrifice herself for her loved ones. Hopefully, the character's solo movie will give us moments with her that the Avengers films couldn't.
"It felt in-character that she would sacrifice herself. Of course for humanity but actually for her friends, for the people she loves. It was bittersweet."
Johansson's defense won't be enough for some; if anything, some fans will see it as her defending the company and not really giving an opinion. Admittedly, there's no crying over spilled milk and we should just be happy that we're finally getting that long-requested solo movie of hers.
Also, she's still alive in the comics, so you can always check those out. Just saying.
Black Widow is coming to theaters on May 1, 2020.
