Sebastian Stan recently addressed the backlash against the MCU again amid the criticisms in the last few years.
The franchise has been on an up-and-down turn in its post-Endgame era as it received criticism for focusing on quantity rather than quality and concerns of superhero fatigue with the mixed reception that their projects have gotten.
Fortunately, it's been experiencing some wins again recently as Deadpool & Wolverine became a massive hit last summer while Agatha All Along has been getting impressive viewership on Disney+.
Sebastian Stan Calls Out the MCU Haters
In a recent interview, Stan defended the MCU once again from the criticisms that it's been getting in the last few years.
He pointed out that Marvel "puts so much heart" in the making of their projects and there will be a "big hole" in the business if the franchise doesn't exist.
"I’ve never been part of a company that puts so much heart and thought into anything. I think if Marvel was gone, it’d be such a big hole to try and fill up. Don’t just go out there and sh*t on something without offering something better," the MCU vet said.
This is not the first time that Stan commented on the backlash against the franchise in the last few weeks as he also weighed in on a separate interview.
Considering that Stan has been a long-time part of the MCU family, it is understandable to hear that kind of remarks from him on the criticisms since he is someone who has understood the system and saw what was really happening behind the scenes.
Despite the MCU's divisive reception in the last few years, the box office and viewership still show that they are continuing to attract audiences and are not in a grim state of state unlike what some may suggest.
Stan will be seen next in the upcoming MCU film Thunderbolts* which is set to arrive in theaters on May 2, 2025.
