Gray Parish (played by Giancarlo Esposito), unfortunately, found no other way to recover from his piling bills and debt than to return to the old unethical ways of getting his money.

In this case, he was hired to heed The Horse's orders alongside his Zimbabwean gang.

The first episode closes with a grim ending. Though Gray was able to retrieve the package filled with passports for the human trafficking operation The Horse, his brother was left unimpressed because of the mess Gray left at the scene.

As Gray Parish attempts to defend his strategy to avoid getting caught, Zenzo tells him, "Gray, there is a Shona word — Ramangwana. It means 'destiny.' This is destiny."

Once The Horse and Zenzo axed and stabbed the so-called 'snitch' in the end, Gray was forced to watch their ruthless method raw on his first day of the job.

As it turns out, this was not only a simple 'words of wisdom' type, but rather a form of contract that Gray is now committed to The Horse's beck and call from this day forward.
