Paul Bettany Describes WandaVision as Marvel's Oddest Project Yet

The MCU's scope has grown in recent years and so has its definition of "weird." Thor was considered a "weird" franchise to tackle at one point because it differed so much from films like Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk but ended up becoming one of Marvel's most well-known franchises. Guardians of the Galaxy was also considered "weird" because it featured characters almost no one knew about, though that ended up becoming a huge success soon after.

It seems like we're going to be using the word "weird" again since WandaVision is expected to be one of the MCU's oddest projects, at least according to Vision actor Paul Bettany. During an interview with IGN in D23, Bettany went on to describe the series in a way that will get anyone interested in this Disney+ series.

"It's definitely the oddest of all the Marvel endeavors so far. It's super avant-garde and weird. I don't think either of us could have expected to be going in this -- if we were going to continue in this -- [and for] it to continue in this direction. I'm so excited, the scripts are amazing. It's going to be just great to drill down further into these things."

We're definitely interested to see how this series compares to all of Marvel's other works, especially with the weird poster that threw everyone off. The whole ‘50s aesthetic is odd and teasing Scarlet Witch's classic comic book costume is nuts. Add the connections to Doctor Strange and The Multiverse of Madness, it looks like fans are in for one magical ride.

Fans will be able to watch WandaVision on Spring 2021, exclusively on the Disney+ streaming service.
