In a recent interview, Badgley opened up about the passing of Trachtenberg, which he described as "really surreal, really saddening."

"What I remember of her is she was incredibly quick to laugh. She was really joyous. We all have our ups and downs, our lights and shadows, but she had this — I mean, she was mature, but she had this childlike, joyous laugh," he said.

The You star admitted that he wasn't able to cross paths with the late actress in over 10 years before her passing, but he described her as someone who had a "really pure heart."

Badgley and Trachtenberg shared a couple of scenes together throughout the original Gossip Girl run, where he played Dan Humphrey while the late actress played Georgina Sparks.

A lot of Gossip Girl stars also paid tribute to Trachtenberg after news came that she had passed away, including Blake Lively, Chace Crawford, and Taylor Momsen.

Michelle Trachtenberg's Cause of Death

Trachtenberg's official cause of death was recently revealed by the New York City Office of Chief Medical Examiner after a toxicology examination was conducted.

They determined that the late actress died as a result of complications of diabetes mellitus. The manner of death was ruled as natural.

The cause of death was previously ruled as "undetermined" after Trachtenberg's family declined an autopsy.

A spokesperson for the New York City Office of Chief Medical Examiner explained that "the amended determination was made following review of toxicology testing results" and "toxicology testing can be done without autopsy."
