Michelle Trachtenberg's cause of death has been ruled as undetermined following her family's decision to decline an autopsy.
It was reported last Wednesday that the late Gossip Girl and Buffy the Vampire Slayer actress has passed away at the age of 39. She was found unresponsive by her mother in her New York City apartment and the EMS pronounced her dead when they arrived.

Reports revealed that Trachtenberg's cause of death has been officially ruled as undetermined after her family declined an autopsy.
Authorities did not rule the late actress' death as suspicious as they did not find any evidence of suspected foul play.
Families are allowed to decline an autopsy if the death is not ruled as foul play or for religious grounds in accordance with the state's public health law.
There were speculations that complications from Trachtenberg's liver transplant months before her death may have played a role.
With the family's wishes that no autopsy will be done on the late actress' body, no further investigation will be made and the certificate will classify her cause of death as "undetermined."
Michelle Trachtenberg's Last Few Years Detailed in New Report
A new report from People laid out some of the alleged details regarding Trachtenberg's last few years based on the sources that they spoke to.
They claimed that Trachtenberg had taken "a step away from Hollywood" in the last few years prior to her death.
"She was a great girl who just never got her footing, just like many childhood stars," the source noted.
Trachtenberg was allegedly a "recluse [and] didn't have many friends" but the source noted that "she was an overall great girl" and "was always kind, supportive and loving."
Another source that People spoke to shared that the late actress had been "really really down emotionally" and "told friends she was struggling."
"She was really, really sick and open with those in her circle about how much she was struggling. She was pale, gaunt, very thin, and dealing with health issues," the source said.
