- Quick Answer: Chris Hansen skipped a Primetime screening after refusing A24's legal agreement, though reports indicate it was merely a standard spoiler non-disclosure agreement.
Chris Hansen recently claimed that he was turned away from a private screening of the upcoming film Primetime.
The famed TV presenter and journalist is the subject of a soon-to-be-released biopic, Primetime, starring Robert Pattinson and focusing on Hansen's conception of his hit series To Catch a Predator and its popularity. Fans have been wondering what Hansen feels about the making of the project.
Why Was Chris Hansen Turned Away From a Primetime Screening?

In a recent interview on Jesse Watters Primetime at Fox News (via Variety), Chris Hansen revealed that he was supposed to watch Primetime in an early private screening. However, he was turned away after he refused to "sign away my rights."
"The lawyers at A24 wanted me to sign away my rights to my name, image, and brand, essentially, as well as any potential legal rights that would come out of the movie," he claimed. "I couldn’t sign that, so they didn’t show me the film. I went all the way over there."
When Watters asked whether he went to the screening without any legal cover, Hansen explained that his lawyers had already reviewed the document and advised him to not sign.
"Of course not. This was a very restrictive agreement. I’ve never seen anything quite like it," he said.
However, since then, reports have clarified that Hansen was only asked to sign a standard NDA document, which would prevent him from discussing any spoilers publicly before the film's release.
It remains to be seen whether Hansen will still attempt to watch the film in an advance screening, or if he will just watch it once it is released publicly.
What Is Primetime About?
Primetime focuses on Chris Hansen, who sets out to make television history as he launches the series To Catch a Predator, where he confronts child sexual predators who arrive at a sting house and are arrested as a result.
The cast includes Robert Pattinson (as Hansen), Merritt Wever, Skyler Gisondo, Phoebe Bridgers, Bokeem Woodbine, Anna Faris, Tony Revolori, and Jeff Zucker (as himself).
Lance Oppenheim directed the film in his narrative feature debut. It is based on Luke Dittrich's 2007 Esquire article "Tonight on Dateline This Man Will Die." Hansen is not involved in the production.
The film is slated for release in North American theaters on September 25. It will have its world premiere at the Venice International Film Festival.
