Martin Freeman Says Black Panther 2 Could Begin Filming in 2021

While we're all talking about the big Spider-Man split from Sony and Disney, there are other Marvel films to be excited about. Black Widow is coming out on May 1, 2020, Eternals could change everything we know about superhero stories, and we're finally getting Jane Foster as Thor. There's also the unannounced sequels like Black Panther 2 and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, with us having news regarding the former.

Speaking with Uproxx, actor Martin Freeman revealed that there are no plans to shoot Black Panther 2 in 2020 and he thinks that the film could begin production in 2021. He already confirmed that his character, Everett Ross, would be returning to the MCU soon, so he might have a clue or two regarding the next Black Panther film.

Black Panther 2 will have to answer a lot of questions, like if T'Challa will still be in charge of Wakanda after his five-year disappearance/death and if we'll be seeing Shuri suit up. There's also the possibility of seeing Namor the Submariner as a potential villain/antagonist, which would be amazing. He's one of Marvel's Golden Age heroes and it's a shame that we haven't seen him in live-action yet.

Admittedly, Freeman's Everett Ross is far from the most exciting character of the franchise. I'm not too excited to see him back but I'll gladly see Martin Freeman in other movies where he has more freedom and character.

Black Panther 2 doesn't have a release date yet.
