The internet practically blew up yesterday when it was announced that Sony had pulled Spider-Man out of the MCU, and everyone online has been campaigning to #SaveSpidey. What's interesting is, original Avengers Jeremy Renner is joining the crowds in calling out Sony.
This was his post on IG:
What's funny is, Hawkeye and Spider-Man don't really share any scenes at all, and Renner is the only one of the original Avengers so far to voice out his concern about Spider-Man leaving the MCU. We haven't had any word from Robert Downey Jr. or Chris Evans at all; not even an official statement from Kevin Feige or Tom Holland.
For now, there are some reports saying that Sony and Disney are still negotiating and this is all just a premature reaction. If anything, we already have an idea of what would happen if Sony did back out of the deal, and it looks like nobody is eager to have Peter stuck in the SUMC by himself.
Though a lot of people blame Sony for pulling out Spider-Man, some are also thinking it was Disney's fault for demanding to co-finance Spider-Man 50/50. The deal was already pretty steep from the beginning, but after Spider-Man: Far From Home ended up being the highest-grossing Sony film of all time, it's no wonder Disney decided to flex its muscles to get what it wants out of Sony.
We don't know how all of this will go down, but the internet is definitely not happy if Peter Parker is separated from the MCU.
Spider-Man: Far From Home is set for a re-release on Aug. 29.
