Magic: The Gathering (or MTG) is a popular card game that has inspired numerous spinoff series, including a manga titled Destroy All Humankind. They Can't Be Regenerated. by Katsura Ise and Takuma Yokota.

This manga began serialization back in November 2018, and it has since delighted Japanese fans thanks to its fun story along with the free promotional cards that come with each volume release.

Instead of taking place in the MTG universe, this manga is set in real-world Japan, albeit in 1998.

The story follows the junior high school student Hajime Kanou who is a big fan of MTG. He is often scolded by his classmate Emi Sawatari for bringing card games to school.

Despite Emi being the school’s top student and someone who seemingly hates MTG, Hajime stumbles upon Emi in a local card shop.

It turns out that Emi is an MTG player and is one of the top players in the store. Because of this, Emi and Hajime grow closer.
