After six years since the conclusion of the three-season Netflix superhero series, it’s finally confirmed that Krysten Ritter will return as one of Marvel’s darker characters, Jessica Jones, in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2.
And for the first time since the announcement during Marvel’s segment of Disney Upfront 2025 in May, Ritter has broken her silence and teased what’s to come.
What Will Be Jessica Jones’ Role in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2?
Jessica’s role in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 is one of the highly anticipated aspects of the show, after Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) effectively became the New York City ruler and Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) embraced his Daredevil persona and prepared to rally his allies after realizing he couldn’t defeat Kingpin alone in the Season 1 finale.
However, knowing new Marvel projects are bound to secrecy and details about the second season remain under wraps, the Breaking Bad star’s lips are sealed.
“I can't say anything,” she told ScreenRant. “But I love being with Charlie [Cox].”
The 43-year-old couldn’t help but feel nostalgic, likening the experience to her very “first day.”
“I was looking around like we're back. But juxtaposing it with Mia [her Dexter Resurrection character] and Jessica has been really creatively fulfilling for me as an artist,” she continued.
Ritter also expressed her excitement about returning to “Jessica’s boots,” saying she’s “thrilled” to be back in Jessica’s boots and eager to be part of another Marvel project.
“There's more story for her and it's really exciting,” she added.
When asked about the difference in tone between the Disney+ version and the original Netflix series, which aired from 2015 to 2019, she shared, “Oh, it’s gritty. It feels big too. The crew’s amazing. I’ve had an amazing experience.”
Will There Be a Jessica Jones Reboot?
Now that Jessica will officially make her MCU debut in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, questions are surfacing about whether Marvel Studios will develop a Jessica Jones reboot.
Trusted insider Daniel Richtman claimed there are now talks that Jessica may once again be seen in either a series or a special—similar to The Punisher, which Marvel Television head Brad Winderbaum described as a “shotgun blast of a story.”
“Marvel is discussing doing Jessica Jones as either a [TV] show or a special of her own,” he said.
This comes after the Twitter writer-influencer alleged that Marvel Television plans to focus on “street-level, grounded stories,” much like what Netflix previously produced.
Big events will allegedly be reserved for the big screen, along with characters typically associated with the Avengers franchise.
If this happens, it will create a clear distinction between what fans can expect from Marvel’s TV offerings versus its movies—which makes sense, as fans may be less likely to spend on theater tickets if similar content is available on Disney+.
