Marvel Studios executive Brad Winderbaum recently opened up about the making of Daredevil: Born Again and how it had a similar approach to X-Men '97.

Fans have been anticipating the premiere of the MCU revival series as it will bring back Charlie Cox and Vincent D'Onofrio to reprise their iconic roles as well as the return of several fan-favorite characters from the original Netflix show.

The project notably underwent a creative overhaul late last year during its production shutdown as Marvel Studios decided to take the series into a new direction again and bring back elements from the Netflix version to the delight of many fans.

Daredevil: Born Again Will Have Similarities to X-Men '97

In a recent interview on The Official Marvel Podcast, Winderbaum discussed the development of Daredevil: Born Again and praised the people involved in making the series.

He noted that they produced the project with a similar approach to X-Men '97, reviving a legacy series and taking it with a new creative direction for the characters and its universe.

"Daredevil is incredible. It's similar in some ways to X-Men '97 because it's reviving something that the fans love but it's taking it in a new direction. These characters have matured, the universe is different than it was, things have changed, society has changed," the Marvel Studios executive explained.

"Matt [Murdock] and Wilson [Fisk] had changed and their characters are gonna collide in ways that we haven't seen before. It's no longer to try to murder each other. There's a whole politics that play."

While Winderbaum's comments might not be spoiler-heavy, it is still a great tease about the series as it sets up expectations for fans on what they can look forward to Born Again when it premieres this year.

Even if the series will somewhat continue the original Netflix version and bring back most of the familiar characters that we know and love, the MCU revival will be different and possibly elevate the existing material with a fresh and more contemporary approach just like what we've seen in X-Men '97.

It is interesting what the final results look like and whether Born Again will indeed live up to the X-Men '97 level of quality and hype.

Daredevil: Born Again is set to premiere on Disney+ in March 2025.
