Deadline confirmed that Dan Stevens will be playing the role of Alex Murphy/RoboCop in the TV series adaptation of RoboCop on Prime Video.
The acclaimed actor is taking on the iconic character that was originated by Peter Weller in the 1987 classic and donning the iconic costume. To celebrate his casting, he posted a photo of himself with the RoboCop action figure on social media.

Stevens is no stranger to the world of television, as fans first knew him from Downton Abbey before he became a major star. He eventually starred as David Haller in the X-Men series Legion.
He recently starred in the horror anthology series The Terror: Devil in Silver and joined the cast of the second season of Dexter: Resurrection. He will also star in the George Smiley series Legacy of Spies.
On the movie side, he is no stranger to franchise projects since he has starred in titles such as Beauty and the Beast and Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. He will be returning in next year's Godzilla x Kong: Supernova.

Peter Ocko (Lodge 49) will serve as the showrunner of the series, while Jason Wan is involved as one of the executive producers.
