Game of Thrones fans expected that the original cast would have seen House of the Dragon for themselves. However, it appears that Kit Harington, who played Jon Snow in the hit HBO series is passing up on watching the prequel, and he has a good reason for skipping it.
Kit Harington Doesn't Plan on Seeing House of the Dragon: Here's Why
As the King of the North led the Men of Night's Watch in the Game of Thrones finale, they essentially passed the torch onto the cast of House of the Dragon.
Kit Harington, however, admittedly can't watch the prequel series that is set 200 years before the flagship franchise, but not for that reason. As it turns out, running for an eight-season series may have done the Eternals star in.
"I just can't watch it," Harington recently shared, "I think for me, it's just I've spent too long there." And the Modern Love star isn't wrong. He had played Jon Snow from 2011 to 2019, only to come out with the most disappointing historical ending.
"I wish them for the best. I hear it's wonderful and going really well. But I don't think I'll ever watch that show," Harington added, "And I don't think I'll watch Game of Thrones again for a few years."
Although he will soon be returning to reprise Jon Snow in a George R.R. Martin spinoff sequel series centering on the lost Targaryen son, Harington last said, "Currently, it's off the table, because we all couldn't find the right story to tell that we were all excited about enough."
While he doesn't completely close the future of the Jon Snow spin-off, at the time, he said, "It's firmly on the shelf."
To be fair, it's not only Harington who had not seen the show (let alone planning on watching it).
In fact, co-star Emilia Clarke, who played Daenerys Targaryen the Mother of Dragons, admitted it feels "weird" and "strange", adding that the act of watching House of the Dragon is akin to attending a school reunion that is not in her year.
