The producer of And Just Like That recently revealed that Carrie Bradshaw's story might not be over despite the show's conclusion.

The Sex and the City sequel series recently aired its final episode, although it received a polarizing reaction. While the showrunner made it clear that they had no plans to continue the series beyond the ending, some fans are still wondering whether there might be plans to extend the franchise once again and explore more of Carrie Bradshaw's journey after And Just Like That.

In an interview with TVLine, And Just Like That executive producer Elisa Zuritsky opened up about the possibility of continuing Carrie Bradshaw's story beyond the events of the series.

She teased that the story of Sarah Jessica Parker's character might continue after the series, given that she is still around.

"She's alive, so it could happen," Zuritsky said.

She also pointed out that "Sarah Jessica Parker is [showrunner] Michael Patrick King’s muse" and added that "the reason he says ‘I’ve said goodbye before and I’ve come back’ is because it’s true."

However, at the end of the day, the fate of the Sex and the City franchise and the question of whether Carrie Bradshaw's story should continue are still in the hands of King.

"We serve at his pleasure. I am the eternal optimist. So I don’t like to be too final about things, and life is long. I mean, we’ve all seen lots of things happen," Zuritsky explained.

Is Michael Patrick King Planning to Continue the Sex and the City Franchise After And Just Like That?

In an interview with Variety after the series finale aired, King confirmed once and for all that the series finale was the conclusion of both And Just Like That and the Sex and the City franchise overall.

"It is closed. Because I care so much about what we’ve done. And I got emotional not because of letting go of Carrie, but because of the people that care about Carrie. I just realized 'care' is in 'Carrie.' People care so much about her that I feel for them," he said.

"That she’s this hero in her late 50s, wearing a Hindenburg hat and eating sherbet in Washington Square Park. She’s made her mark, and, as a writer, I feel we’ve made our mark. I never thought once about continuing. Telling it like it is: It’s an instinct. Anyone else could keep going. I can’t."

Parker also shared in another interview that she was satisfied with how And Just Like That concluded Carrie Bradshaw's journey in the finale.

"Absolutely. I feel good about her. I think she’s set up pretty well," she said.
