The Office stars Steve Carell and John Krasinski showed support for the cast members of the spinoff The Paper during the first day of filming.

The world of the hit sitcom is returning next week with a spinoff series that will center on a different workplace and a new set of characters. Most of the creatives involved in the original series are also involved, including Oscar Nunez, who will be reprising the role of Oscar Martinez. Fans are hoping that the spinoff will live up to the same level as The Office.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, The Paper star Sabrina Impacciatore revealed that Carell and Krasinski visited the set during the first day of filming and offered support.

"No makeup yet. We are very anxious. Like, oh my God, we're so scared. And then we hear, knock, knock. Someone enters the trailer, and it's Steve Carell and John Krasinski! We’re fainting. Like, what? Can you imagine? Isn’t it crazy? The first day of shooting!" she recalled.

As it turned out, the original stars of The Office were filming a commercial for an Italian coffee right next to the soundstage where The Paper was also being shot.

"I thought, this is a blessing. Italian coffee, which is the coffee that I've been drinking all my life," the actress added.

Impacciatore also shared that she already met Carell in New York City months before The Paper started filming, where he also gave support and encouragement.

"He was the sweetest. He was so warm. He was encouraging me so much. He said, ‘These people are brilliant. You are going to have the best experience of your life. You're going to be great,’ He was giving me confidence. I will never forget that. Never. It was so right to do that," she said.

What to Expect in The Paper

The Paper follows a dying Midwestern newspaper and its publisher's efforts to revive it using volunteer reporters. Just like The Office, they are being followed by a documentary crew.

Aside from Impacciatore and Nunez, the cast also includes Domhnall Gleeson, Chelsea Frei, Melvin Gregg, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Alex Edelman, Ramona Young, and Tim Key.

All 10 episodes of the first season are set to release on Peacock this September 4. There is no word yet on whether it is getting a second season renewal.
