Eternals' Gay Character Will Be Married And Have A Family

Though it's been confirmed for a while that Tessa Thompson's Valkyrie is the first gay MCU superhero, Eternals will have a clearer depiction of an openly gay character this time around. We don't have any details on which Eternal is gay, but Marvel Studios' head Kevin Feige goes on about his characterization in the film.

Talking to Good Morning America, Feige explains, "He's married, he's got a family, and that is just part of who he is." He didn't drop who the character is, but at least we know that it's a male one. Some guess that it's Richard Madden's Ikaris, but it's very likely it could be any one of the other male Eternals.

Besides the first gay hero though, the movie is also going to introduce us to Lauren Ridloff's Makkari, who is said to be the MCU's first deaf hero. You'd think there's a team-up down the line with Daredevil and Black Bolt at some point.

A lot of people are still scratching their heads over this film, granted it focuses on the more obscure IP of Marvel, but if the studio managed to make Guardians of the Galaxy a box office smash, then maybe they can do the same with Eternals. The movie has already amassed an impressive cast, and everyone is hoping director Chloe Zhao has something interesting in mind for her first foray into the MCU.

If anything, fans will be interested to know that this movie is supposed to showcase the ‘beginnings' of the MCU. While I'm not sure we'll actually get to see the creation of the Infinity Stones, it would be cool to see the early days of Asgard, or maybe find out who the Celestial was that eventually became Knowhere. Rumor even has it that the film could feature a young Thanos, but that's just concept art for now. Then again, I can't imagine any other place they could bring in the character. Heck, they don't even need Josh Brolin to reprise that part.

Eternals is set to come out Nov. 6, 2020.
